Position Overview

At Chick-fil-A, the Back of House Shift Leader plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by ensuring excellence in food quality, food safety, and kitchen operations. This leader is responsible for executing daily operations with precision, developing team members, and upholding Chick-fil-A standards during every shift.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and is passionate about developing others while pursuing operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

  • Lead and execute kitchen operations to ensure accuracy, speed, and quality of all food items
  • Maintain Chick-fil-A standards in food safety, cleanliness, and organization (EcoSure & Pathway aligned)
  • Ensure proper holding times, food rotation, and waste control
  • Execute intentional setups to position the kitchen for success during peak and non-peak hours
  • Monitor kitchen flow and make real-time adjustments to ensure efficiency

Food Safety & Quality

  • Champion food safety procedures and ensure compliance with all Chick-fil-A and EcoSure standards
  • Conduct regular line checks, temperature checks, and cleanliness audits
  • Serve as a “guardian of the brand” by holding the team accountable to the highest food safety standards

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop team members during each shift
  • Set clear expectations and provide real-time feedback to improve performance
  • Train and onboard new team members using Chick-fil-A systems and processes
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented environment that reflects Chick-fil-A’s culture and values

Shift Execution & Accountability

  • Own shift execution from start to finish, ensuring all operational goals are met
  • Communicate effectively with Front of House leaders to ensure seamless operations
  • Hold team members accountable to standards including urgency, professionalism, and teamwork
  • Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are completed

  • Promote a culture of care, respect, and excellence that positively impacts both team members and guests

Qualifications

  • Previous leadership experience in a restaurant or fast-paced environment preferred
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations and food safety practices
  • Ability to lead with urgency while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and Saturdays
