Job Summary
Altura Concepts is seeking friendly, organized, and guest-focused Hosts/Hostesses to serve as the first point of contact for guests across our family of full-service restaurants, lounges, and fast-casual concepts. The Host/Hostess plays a key role in creating a welcoming first impression by greeting guests, managing seating arrangements, coordinating waitlists, and ensuring efficient guest flow. The ideal candidate is personable, professional, and committed to delivering exceptional hospitality from the moment guests arrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests with a warm, friendly, and professional greeting upon arrival.
- Manage reservations, waitlists, and walk-in guests using the company's reservation or waitlist system.
- Accurately estimate wait times and communicate them to guests.
- Escort guests to their tables while providing menus and introducing their server when appropriate.
- Maintain an organized seating chart to ensure balanced table rotation and efficient service.
- Coordinate with managers, servers, and bussers to maximize seating availability and guest satisfaction.
- Answer incoming phone calls professionally and assist with reservations, guest inquiries, and to-go orders when applicable.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, entrance, lobby, and waiting areas.
- Ensure menus are clean, organized, and readily available.
- Monitor dining room activity to assist with guest flow and table availability.
- Assist guests with special requests, accessibility needs, and seating preferences whenever possible.
- Support servers, bartenders, bussers, and management during busy service periods.
- Complete opening, side work, and closing duties as assigned.
- Follow all company policies regarding sanitation, workplace safety, and guest service standards.
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and represent Altura Concepts with integrity and professionalism.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Previous host, customer service, restaurant, or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
- Outstanding customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and composed during busy service periods.
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
- Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain if required by local regulations.
Preferred Skills
- Experience using reservation and waitlist management systems.
- Strong problem-solving and guest recovery skills.
- Excellent verbal communication and telephone etiquette.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Familiarity with restaurant seating flow and front-of-house operations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds, including menus, supplies, and restaurant materials.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout the restaurant as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as business demands require.
