Job type: Part time, flexible. 1099 independent contractor; you choose the delivery windows you can cover each week.
Pay: $25 flat base per trip (covers up to 9 miles) plus $1.00 per mile for every mile past 10 (10 miles = $30). Examples: 5 miles = $25, 15 miles = $35, 20 miles = $40, 30 miles = $50. Miles are the routed distance from our kitchen to the delivery address, rounded up to the next whole mile. A typical catering delivery pays about $25 to $40. Tips are not promised.
Pay frequency: weekly. Worker type: 1099 independent contractor. You use your own vehicle and pay your own fuel, insurance and taxes. No employee benefits.
About the job
We deliver corporate catering and restaurant orders for a Chinese-American kitchen in Dunwoody. Most deliveries are weekday lunch orders for offices around Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Brookhaven, Roswell and Perimeter. You pick up packed orders at our kitchen, deliver on time, set up the order if the client asks, and check it against the ticket.
What you'll do
- Pick up packed catering and restaurant orders and check them against the ticket before you leave.
- Deliver on time to offices and event sites, following the routing and notes in the order.
- Keep food upright, covered and at the right temperature while you drive.
- Set up the food at the delivery site when needed and get a name or signature if the order calls for it.
- Text or call the kitchen about any delay, wrong address or building-access problem right away.
- Report any damaged or missing items before you leave the site.
Required
- Your own reliable car, SUV or van that is legal to drive. Cars, SUVs, vans and hatchbacks are fine; the vehicle must be clean and safe, and you send vehicle photos at onboarding.
- Valid driver's license.
- Smartphone with GPS/navigation and text messaging.
- Able to work weekday lunch, about 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Some early-morning, evening or weekend orders are also available.
- Able to lift and carry catering trays and bags up to 30 lb.
- Live within about a 40-minute drive of Dunwoody.
- Legally authorized to work in the US.
Preferred (encouraged, not required): a good driving record and current auto insurance (proof at hire if you have it).
Nice to have: food-delivery or catering delivery experience; knowledge of Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Brookhaven and Perimeter; food handler card.
Not required: diploma, prior restaurant experience.
