Position Title: Construction Estimator

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Construction Estimator to join our team. This hybrid role consists of approximately 50% estimating responsibilities and 50% project coordination and business development responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial construction estimating, particularly in restaurant and retail environments, along with the ability to oversee project execution. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating Responsibilities (Primary Focus – 50%)
• Lead the development of accurate, competitive, and strategic cost estimates for new builds, remodels, and tenant improvements.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documentation to deliver comprehensive and reliable estimates.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to validate scope and optimize pricing.
• Prepare and review bid packages that align with Meyer Development’s standards and project goals.
• Partner closely with the Senior Director of Construction to ensure estimates support financial targets and business strategy.
• Conduct site visits to gather critical data and uncover opportunities or risks early in the process.
• Monitor project costs, track change orders, and proactively support budget management.
• Build and maintain strong subcontractor and supplier relationships to drive competitive pricing and quality outcomes.
• Ensure all estimates meet regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company expectations.
• Stay ahead of market trends, material pricing shifts, and industry developments.
• Support procurement efforts and assist with contract review when needed.
Project Coordination & Support (40%)
• Partner with project managers to track schedules, budgets, and overall project performance.
• Help drive alignment between contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Participate in site visits to monitor progress and proactively identify potential issues.
• Assist in managing documentation, change orders, and cost impacts.
• Contribute to clear, consistent communication across all project teams.
• Support adherence to safety standards and project specifications.
• Play a role in successful project closeouts and continuous improvement efforts.
Project Coordination & Support (10%)
• Partner with project managers to track schedules, budgets, and overall project performance.
• Help drive alignment between contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Participate in site visits to monitor progress and proactively identify potential issues.
• Assist in managing documentation, change orders, and cost impacts.
• Contribute to clear, consistent communication across all project teams.
• Support adherence to safety standards and project specifications.
• Play a role in successful project closeouts and continuous improvement efforts.
• Track and monitor project costs, change orders, and assist with budget adjustments as necessary.
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and high-quality work.
• Ensure all estimates comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Assist with contract negotiations and procurement of necessary materials and services.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, pricing, and market conditions to provide accurate estimates.
Qualifications
• Proven experience as a Construction Estimator in commercial construction.
• Experience with commercial construction and remodels (QSR experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and estimating best practices.
• Exposure to project coordination or project management processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating tools (Bluebeam, Contractor Foreman, or similar).
• Working knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to travel to project sites, both locally and out of state.
• Ability to navigate active construction sites and perform on-site assessments.
