Why is this role important?

 

The Shift Manager is critical to our organization’s purpose and our ability to execute our vision. The Shift Manager will be entrusted with leading operation (either Front of House or Kitchen) on a daily basis while ensuring our guests and team members feel cared for.

 

The Shift Manager is primarily responsible for:

1.   Managing and overseeing the operation according to California labor laws, our vision, and our purpose

2.   Ensuring Operational Excellence while leading the shift

3.   Holding team members accountable to our standards while encouraging and developing them to grow

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

 

The Shift Manager, under the direction and supervision of the Restaurant Directors, is responsible for managing and supporting the following:

 


Operations Management

  • Shifts management (call-outs, etc.)
  • Ensuring all rest and meal breaks are given according to California Labor Laws
  • Ensure our team members feel seen and cared for while working on the shift
  • Team Member attendance monitoring/tracking
  • Troubleshoot IT issues
  • Address and resolve all guest complaints

Operational Excellence

  • Manage and lead shifts to ensure we are consistently delivering an excellent experience (green screens, place is clean, line is moving, and team members and guests are happy)
  • Work together with other Shift Managers/Leaders to ensure Operational Excellence
  • Ensure operations are running smoothly (identify bottlenecks and remove obstacles)

Staff Management (Team Members and Coaches)

  • Train, coach and develop restaurant Team Members to be effective and efficient
  • Encourage and develop Coaches and Team Members through group and one-on-one conversations
  • Hold Coaches and Team Members accountable to their job responsibilities
  • Communicate any team member, scheduling, or operational concerns/ideas/celebrations to the Restaurant Directors

Required Eligibility Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate operational needs within a 24 hours per week schedule
  • At least 6 months experience working in a restaurant (preferably Chick-fil-A)

Desired Competency/Experience

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • At least 2 years of experience working in hospitality/restaurant environment (preferably Chick-fil-A)
