Ralph Brennan Catering (at NOMA) has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Sous Chef to oversee catered events. The Catering Sous Chef creates plated and buffet menus and works with our culinary team to execute the food for events in-house at Cafe NOMA at the New Orleans Museum of Art and in select other venues in New Orleans. Responsibilities:
- Extensive product knowledge and willingness to explore and use local ingredients
- Creative knowledge to build specialty menus and support themed events
- Seek out new techniques to improve food quality, consistency, and presentation
- Ability to schedule, control inventory, and manage labor
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to build a positive team and employee morale
- Work with our catering sales manager and clients to deliver on all details of events.
Ideal Candidates should be or have:
- 1-3 years of experience as a sous chef or other culinary leadership role (or a culinary degree)
- Team player with solid leadership skills
- Flexible and adaptable working in 3rd party venues
- Enjoy the pace and energy of working at offsite events
- Have a passion for food, exceptional work ethic, and dedication
- Enjoy multitasking and work well under pressure
