Position Summary:
The primary purpose of your job position is to administer medications to residents and assist
with other aspects of their daily care and routine.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of Med Tech training program
- Minimum of six months’ experience in long term care, home care, or a related field, preferably as a Med Tech
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid CPR certification
- Speak, read, and understand the English language
Responsibilities:
- Read and implement care/activities of daily living (ADLs) according to resident service plan within the scope of practice of certification or licensure.
- Responds to resident needs, pendant calls, and other community alarms in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates empathy and develops caring rapport with residents.
- Communicates clearly, professionally, and timely.
- Communicates change of condition in any resident to nursing in a timely and effective manner.
- Demonstrates behavior, which maintains and respects resident rights and promotes independence, regardless of race, religion, lifestyle, sexual preference, and disease process.
- Addresses individual behavioral needs of the resident and demonstrates the ability to identify psychosocial needs.
- Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills – prepare medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance
- Participate in and complete narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, reporting any and all discrepancies to supervisor(s) immediately
- Assist caregivers in the performance of their job duties and assume caregiver activities and responsibilities when needed.
- Provide assistance at mealtime with selecting meals, serving, eating, and clearing trays
- Transport residents as necessary assisting them into and out of bed, wheelchairs, etc. following all safety/lifting and transferring techniques – escorting them to/from meals, activities, or other transportation needs as requested or assigned
