About the Role:
The Toddler Teacher supports children as they explore independence, language, movement, and social-emotional development. This role provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where toddlers can build confidence, practice new skills, and engage meaningfully with the world around them.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Care & Daily Routines:
- Greet children and families with warmth and professionalism
- Support daily routines including diapering, toileting readiness, meals, and rest time
- Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment
- Ensure smooth transitions and predictable daily structure
Learning & Development:
- Facilitate play-based activities that support language, motor skills, and social-emotional growth
- Encourage early communication through modeling language and conversation
- Introduce early concepts (colors, shapes, numbers, self-help skills) through play
- Support emotional regulation and positive behavior guidance
- Supervise and support safe indoor and outdoor exploration
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all Title 22 licensing, diapering, hygiene, and sanitation procedures
- Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment
- Monitor children’s health and report concerns as needed
- Complete required documentation (attendance, incident reports, daily logs)
- Follow all safety and emergency procedures
Family Communication:
- Provide daily updates on routines, development, and milestones
- Communicate with families in a professional, respectful, and supportive manner
- Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and guardians
- Participate in developmental check-ins or conferences
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with Lead Teachers to support curriculum and classroom goals
- Assist with classroom preparation, organization, and cleaning
- Support assistant teachers and contribute to team consistency
- Participate in staff meetings and school-wide activities
Qualifications:
- 12 ECE units in Child Development required
- At least 3 Infant/Toddler ECE units required
- 1+ year of experience with toddlers or infants preferred
- CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain
- Strong understanding of toddler development and behavior
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based classroom
