Our ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience with caring for pets in a boarding & day care environment. This position will require the ability to juggle a variety of responsibilities, with a strong attention to detail and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Our Pup Pros are responsible for ensuring the playrooms are safe, calm and clean. Pup Pros are also responsible for helping feed the pups each morning and night, administering medications, walking the pups, cleaning up after the pups, and keeping our facility pristine and running smoothly. It takes a team to make it all happen, but we work together and are passionate about what we do!

Job Type: Full-time and Part-Time

Hourly pay from $13-$16/hour plus tips. Depending on experience.

Requirements:

Applicants must be:

Experienced working with off leash playgroups (10+ pups at a time)

Proactive and take initiative

Confident with strong problem solving skills

Comfortable working with pups of all sizes and breeds

Very detailed oriented and able to follow instructions

Flexible with schedule availability

Reliable with transportation

Dependable and willing to work various weekdays/weekends/holidays

At least 16 years of age

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to read and write

Able to be on your feet for extended periods of time

Able to clean to a very high standard

Able to lift 40+ pounds on occasion

Responsibilities:

Some responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Monitor anywhere between 10-30 dogs

Greet new clients

Assist with check in and check out

Bathe pups and perform other grooming tasks such as nail trims, ear and eye cleaning, etc.…

Understand and monitor pup interactions and step in to prevent altercations

Jump into action in the event of an altercation following facility approved protocols

Clean suites, yards, & play rooms

Clean up messes (bodily fluids and feces) inside and outside

Feed accurately according to pawrent instructions

Wash dishes and laundry

Previous experience in boarding or daycare environment is required (6+ months is preferred). This is an hourly paid position with additional tips. Full and Part Time available. Some weekends and holidays are a requirement of this position.

As a Pet Host, you are the first impression for our site! The principal duties are to handle check-in for arrival clients, handle check-out for departing clients, make follow-up reservations for existing clients, sell activity packages and daycare on reservations made, greet all guests, clients, and vendors, and handle any general inquiries about the business.

Responsibilities:

• Provide impeccable customer service by following our Service Foundation principles. You will ensure that each customer is treated with respect and dignity in order to develop and maintain strong relationships.
• Answer all incoming calls, respond to voicemails and emails. 
• Make boarding reservations; book grooming, training, and temperament test appointments. Schedule daycare reservations.
• Manage cash, check, and credit card transactions and reporting/reconciling
• Gets to know clients and their pet’s names on a regular basis
• Obtain all information related to a pet’s visit; ensure accuracy of all information.This includes client information as well as pet information. Input all information into resort computer systems. 
• Interact and communicate closely with other staff to ensure client and pet needs and concerns are understood and addressed. 
• Have general knowledge of all services offered at site and be able to provide solutions to the clients needs.
• Obtain vaccination records from veterinary offices and input into the computer.
• Assists in managing waitlists on weekends/peak season/holidays and ensures that rooms are utilized to maximum capacity.
• Act as liaison between veterinarian and customer/emergency contact, keeping all parties informed of ongoing problems when necessary.
• Help initiate “white glove” treatment to our best customers, ie. Call best customers well before peak seasons to secure reservations before we are “sold out”.
• Respond promptly and troubleshoot any customer relations issues, keeping in mind our empowerment goals. Promptly address any uncomfortable situations with customers
• Ensure the facility meets or exceeds expectations with regards to cleanliness and safety.
• Notifying manager on duty or ordering when levels of inventory are low in the following areas:
• Retail
• Cleaning products for lobby areas and office supplies
• Ensure all common areas (lobby and employee spaces) are well maintained, clean and free from hazards ie: wet floors, defecant, etc.
• Consult with other departments

A Day In The Life:

You come to work daily with a smile on your face and excited to help serve our pet parents and their furry friends. You’ll be in our branded gear and help run our lobby and curbside service by greeting everyone as they come in and solving whatever their need is -- check in, check out, answering questions, booking reservations and tailoring our service offerings to their needs. Your ultimate goal is to find out how we can best serve the pet parent and provide them solutions. You’ll use one of your 15 hands to answer phones, take a dog to their destination for the day, hand out some treats or run some credit cards. You’ll not only communicate with the dog(s), but also have a lot of interaction with mom and dad. You’ll document what you are seeing and be ready to share with your manager and the pet parent. And let’s not forget -- you’re probably going to scoop some poop, clean up some pee, go home with some fur on you and get lots of sloppy kisses!

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that each guest is treated with respect and dignity
• Ensure that all guests are receiving appropriate amounts of food and water, clean and sanitize food/water bowls on a daily basis.
• Clean up dog poop, urination and any vomit several times throughout your shift
• Walk dogs on leash to and from outside exercise areas. 
• Engage in play activities with pets including: fetch, exercise walks, chase, agility, follow the leader, recall and basic obedience games, etc.
• Supervise activities of multiple dogs throughout the day
  • Monitor closely for any potential conflicts or escalations and redirect or remove one or more dogs from the situation as needed
• Maintain a sanitary and healthy environment by following our standards of cleaning and disinfecting rooms
• Monitor guest’s health by daily charting of eating and elimination habits. Dispose of and clean up any stool and urine.
• Monitor guest’s reaction to playtimes and general demeanor by charting playtime interactions
• Follow all standards of safety with regards to handling guests, particularly aggressive guests and escape artists
• Pay specific attention to special handling notes, (Meds Person to Feed, Aggressive, Separate for Feeding, etc.)
• Immediately alert front staff and resort manager when a guest is ill or exhibiting odd behavior - follow-up by filling out illness form and turning it into a shift lead/manager.
• Operate washer and dryer to clean pet belongings, towels, etc. Ensure belongings are returned to the appropriate pet.
• Ensure the facility meets or exceeds our expectations with regards to cleanliness and safety. Clean and sanitize all pet enclosures, exercise yards, and common areas.Mix and use disinfectants and other chemicals safely as instructed by the supervisor.
• Ensure that the property is maintained (lawn care, snow removal, tree maintenance)
• Alert manager when levels of inventory are low in the following areas:
  • Pet foods
  • Cleaning products for kenneling and lobby areas
• Help maintain the cleanliness of the property by picking up and disposing of trash or debris. Keep aisles, drains, carts, shelves, sinks, floors, furniture, counters and glass clean, sanitary and free of clutter/debris. Empty and sanitize trash cans and receptacles. 
• Alert manager of any safety or operational issues ie: broken guillotine doors, burnt-out lights, not enough salt for snowy areas, etc.
• Keep informed of important notices, meetings, etc. by consulting the "Guest Services Command Center" 
• Consult with other departments

A Day In The Life:

As a Pet Pro, you are part of a larger team who is focused on the daily pet care of our guests. You’ll report to work over a variety of shifts to handle everything from walking dogs, giving them a potty break, feeding and administering medicines, cleaning their rooms, playing with dogs + cats and even loving them as if they were your own. One day you could help our overnight guests feel like this is their palace away from home and the next day you might run the daycare play group and make sure everyone is getting along. You might snuggle a shy pup who needs some extra special attention while also helping a regular get right back into the swing of things.You’ll not only communicate with the dog(s), but also have a lot of interaction with mom and dad. You’ll document what you are seeing and be ready to share with your manager and the pet parent.. You will be working closely and productively with the rest of the team. You will be following established procedures and use the proper tools associated with taking and preparing customer orders.

To be successful in this role, you must understand the importance of customer experience and understand that they are the “Face” of Firehouse Subs. Real people serving awesome sandwiches to real people.
