How do background check integrations work?
Background check integrations in Workstream allow operators to order background checks directly from the candidate record and automatically store results inside the hiring file. Checkr is Workstream’s native background check integration and includes FCRA-compliant adverse-action workflows required before making employment decisions based on background check results. Workstream also supports WOTC eligibility checks during onboarding to help operators capture federal Work Opportunity Tax Credits.
Can Workstream integrate with custom internal tools?
Workstream can integrate with custom internal tools through its public REST API and webhook support. Common custom integrations include internal reporting dashboards, financial automation workflows, and proprietary HR systems used by franchise operators. Real-time event notifications can also be triggered through webhooks for systems that require immediate updates.
Are Workstream integrations bidirectional?
Most Workstream integrations are bidirectional, meaning data can sync both into and out of the platform. Employee records, payroll events, and schedule updates can flow into downstream systems, while POS sales data and HRIS updates can sync back into Workstream. Integration behavior, sync direction, and update frequency vary by integration and are documented individually.
What if my system isn't on Workstream's integration list?
If your system is not on Workstream’s integration list, operators can either build a custom integration using the Workstream REST API or request a native integration through their account team. New native integrations are prioritized based on customer demand, integration volume, and strategic fit.
