An electrician is an employee who works on electrical components and systems. It’s their responsibility to install, inspect, test, repair, and modify electrical systems. Electricians may work on their own, for a company, on construction sites, and elsewhere. In order to qualify for the role of an electrician, the candidate must have some formal training through a trade school or technical institute. Some electricians also gain the skills they need for the job by completing apprenticeships, which can take multiple years.
