Mason Job Description

A mason is an employee who builds structures out of bricks, concrete blocks, and other types of natural stone. They can be hired to work on many different types of structures, including walls, chimneys, walkways, and fences, among others. A mason’s duties will depend on the exact nature of their job to some extent. But they’re commonly asked to assist in creating the layout and frames for buildings and roofs. Masons are also sometimes asked to tear down and rebuild structures. They might cut openings into walls, ceilings, and floors as a part of this process.

Masons need to be physically strong and capable of using a wide variety of tools and techniques. Most don’t have an advanced education but many have completed apprenticeships that allowed them to hone the skills that they need to excel in their role.
