Groundsman Job Description
A groundsman is an employee who specializes in the maintenance of outdoor spaces. They work for corporations, schools, and the government. It’s their job to ensure that outdoor spaces like parks are well-maintained, healthy, and thriving. To achieve this, a groundsman will complete a variety of tasks. They take care of the grass by watering it and mowing it when necessary. They take care of the trees by trimming them and ensuring that they’re able to grow unimpeded. Groundsmen also fertilize the soil, clear away natural waste, and make sure that the outdoor space is free of garbage, among other tasks.
To become a groundsman, no special training or education is typically needed. However, employers do look for candidates who have previous experience working with plants, trees, and grass. A groundsman also needs to be able to use hand tools and lawn care equipment like lawn mowers and weed whackers.
Groundsman Job Description Template
We’re looking for a skilled groundsman to add to our growing staff. In this role, it will be your job to take care of our outdoor space. This will involve completing a variety of tasks that maintain the health and appearance of our grass, trees, and plants. For example, it will be your job to mow the lawn and trim its edges using a weed whacker. You should be able to use tools like these without any supervision. Additionally, your responsibilities will include planting new plants, adding fertilizer to the soil, and trimming them to make sure they grow correctly. You will also be asked to clear away debris and garbage when it accumulates in our outdoor space.
No advanced education is required for this position. But we are looking for candidates who have previous experience in a similar role.
