Custodian Job Description
A custodian is a service worker who keeps buildings and their surrounding areas clean, orderly, and safe. They perform a wide variety of maintenance and cleaning tasks, such as sweeping walkways, mowing lawns, and fixing fixtures that are in need of repair. A custodian may work in many different places, but some of the most common examples of their workplaces include schools, offices, and banks.
To qualify for the job of a custodian, an employee doesn’t need to have any formal education beyond high school. They do, however, need to be capable of performing minor maintenance tasks, as well as several different cleaning tasks. Custodians also spent the majority of their shifts on their feet, so an employee in this role needs to be physically capable of doing that.

We’re searching for a skilled custodian to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the general cleaning and maintenance of our building and its surrounding areas. You will regularly complete a wide variety of tasks to accomplish this. For example, you will be responsible for performing minor repairs to fixtures, furniture, and equipment. You will also perform cleaning tasks, such as sanitizing our bathrooms, emptying trash receptacles, and mopping our floors. As our custodian, you will perform other tasks that are similar to these in nature in order to ensure that the building and its grounds are clean and orderly.
To do well in this role, you will need to be comfortable with working with a variety of tools and cleaning products. You should be capable of adjusting your work to the needs of the day and capable of collaborating with our other staff members who are responsible for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
